Looking for ways to improve the appearance of your business and site assets?
Plastic bollard covers are things of beauty in the right settings. Those settings vary, including:
- anywhere bright primary colors are desired to higlight something that needs to pop out from its background and surroundings, so it can't be missed – a frequent function for bollards
- locations where corrosive salts or other substances are present. Plastic bollard sleeves resist corrosion, and are both inexpensive and easy to replace when appearance degrades
- where an inexpensive, easily replaceable cover is the best solution – such as non-retail, high traffic locations
- where bollard locations don't demand a period feel, or don't require significant architectural blending
- areas where children and others will enjoy vivid colors, and perhaps a bit of whimsy
- secondary locations where bollards aren't a major design feature
Durable plastic bollard post covers, also called bollard sleeves, are manufactured in high density polyethylene (HDPE) to cover any traffic, security or parking bollard post. Bright reflective rings provide additional visibility at night or in low light. Top quality plastic bollards will also resist UV and solvent damage, extreme temperatures and fading. Because of their high tensile strength, these post covers are also impact-resistant.
Security bollards direct traffic and protect areas from vehicle damage, but these bollard posts may need to be repainted frequently. Vinyl bumper post covers act as a sleeve over top of steel pipe bollards to improve their appearance and visibility, and to eliminate repainting and maintenance costs. Plastic bollards come in yellow, red, white, blue, green, orange, brown, beige, gray and black, with reflective stripes in the buyer's choice of red, white or blue; they can be mixed and matched for even more colorful installations.

For sloped sites, plastic bollard covers can be cut to fit the slope, eliminating an unfinished or "bent" installation look, and better protecting the metal on the pipe bollard that is being covered. Plastic sleeves can be trimmed easily and onsite to any desired height. For the best installation, cut plastic bollard covers at least one to three inches taller than the steel or other bollard to be covered. To increase bollard visibility, plastic covers may be several inches taller than the underlying bollard.
Overall, plastic bollard post covers are quite versatile. They provide a sleek, modern look available in several vibrant colors, plus black for those wanting a more traditional feel. They are inexpensive to buy and replace, come in both round and square shapes, and offer a wide choice of sizes, with heights from 52 to 72 inches and diameters from 4-1/2 to 10-7/8 inches. Vendors most often will not charge for cutting plastic bollard covers to desired lengths.
Brightly-colored plastic bollard covers increase the visibility of concrete-filled, steel security bollards, thereby increasing the safety of the surrounding pedestrians and cars. Just as steel bollard posts are used in places to protect buildings and valuable equipment from damage, decorative plastic bollard covers are the perfect solution to making steel bollards last longer and looking new again.
