Why wont my Harley start when its hot?
When the engine is hot on my 2003 Harley Sportster xlc 1200 it backfires through the exhaust and starts very hard if at all. I was wondering if this has something to do with the ignition module or what. The only modifications i have on the bike are a Screaming Eagle ignition module and dyna jet carb kit. Thank you in advance for your answers.
I already exchanged coils with a good one. so thats not the problem.
Could possibly be a bad coil. After awhile, they have a tendency to heat up, and crack, causing the bike to misfire. Its a very common problem with coils too. After they cool down, the plastic shrinks and the bike will start, and when it gets hot, the plastic expands, and the cracks in the coil (which can be very hard to see) cause the spark to jump to ground. That would be my best guess without having the bike and a multimeter in front of me.
