Firewood is Wet Again - How to Use a Wood Shed Kit to Build a Weatherproof Wood Shed
Imagine that it is very cold and you can feel the chill nipping at your bones after spending the day outdoors working and all you can think about is arriving home to a nice warm fire. So you get in your car and turn on the heater but somehow the heater just does not seem to warm your body like that warm fire at home.
So you drive into your driveway and garage your car as fast as you can so you can enjoy the warmth of the fire your wife lovingly prepares for you each night. However you find you wife battling with wood that just does not want to burn and an empty box of matches on the floor. "What is up?" you ask without much thought. All you get is a "Wood is Wet Again" with a few extra adjectives thrown in to emphasize her frustration. Does this situation sound familiar?
Later that night when the fire is finally warming you as you imagined you start to think about what you should do about keeping the firewood dry. Firstly you think about getting someone to build you a new wood shed but finances are a bit tight at present and you are a handy sort of bloke after all. Next you think about taking a trip to the hardware store to check out materials but last time you were there you found it all a bit overwhelming in that there was just too many choices. After what happened earlier that evening, you feel that it is best that you not broach the subject again in front of your wife. However your wife retires early after a frustrating day, which gives you a chance to sneak a look online to find solution to your wet wood problem. After searching around not really knowing how to solve your wet firewood problem you come across some wood shed kits and wood shed plans.
You read that wood shed kits are a great way to save a lot of time (remember the last time at the hardware store) and money when you need to build a weatherproof wood shed. But you also read that just buying any wood shed kit may not work. After the incident earlier you are in no mood for a project that fails to go smoothly.
So you need a shed kit that comes with everything you need to complete the project and you see that some kits only give you a list of materials you need from the timber yard. You then have to cut your wood to size and then you can start building your shed. However other kits are complete and include all the wood necessary for the project and it comes precut and ready to assemble.
You also read that many people do not realize that they need to carefully consider the foundation on which their wood shed will be placed. It is not a bad idea just to check with your local building authority before you build your wood shed.
Further reading reveals that shed kits come with unfinished wood so you need to allow for the cost of paint and also the tools you will use so that your wood shed will be protected from the elements and last for years.
