How To Identify The Different Kinds Of Earrings On The Market
Look back to only a few decades ago and you'll discover that many people didn’t have much of choice when it came to earrings. It was usually only small rings to choose from. Today wearers can choose from many thousands of earring designs and these are divided into several categories.New places to pierce have also helped the expansion in this popular market. Some earrings can fit well with one particular type of piercing while others can’t be used. But where do you begin when choosing earrings to match your own style.
Studs are commonly seen in many people’s ears. This kind floats a bit above the ear and is attached to a small stave. On the backside of the tube you can find the clutch which holds the earring in place. The clutch can sometimes have a screw, allowing you to tighten or remove the earring with more control. This also decreases the chance of the accessory being lost.
Hoop ones usually have a circular shape, although some of them are not even round. The circular earrings usually have a thin wire which goes through the lobe. On the backside you'll find a little tube which keeps it in place. Flip over to the front and the design and beauty of the hoop can be seen. Hoops are usually larger in size, even though you can also find small ones.
Dangle earrings are usually kept in place by a small hook. The look of dangle ones varies but they are the type that ‘dangle’. They are basically longer even though the length varies and they hang from the earlobe.This style offers so much scope to choose from. Take for instance the triple dangle with pearl earrings - elegance indeed.
Huggy or huggies are the type of that actually ‘hugs’ your ears, meaning that they are smaller. These usually have a circular shape (though triangles and other varieties are available as well) and are in contact with your earlobe.
Punk Era
If you remember the punk era, you'll remember slave earrings. These are the ones placed on the ear with a chain. You don’t see these often but they definitely look great. Usually it goes well if you have the lobe pierced and a hole in the upper part of the ear. The chain can be made from various materials. Of course, you can use a subtle chain.
An ear thread, is a small chain which fits through the piercing itself. It then hangs from the lobe on both sides. Different materials can be used and once the chain comes through the ear other materials can be attached.
Fancy something different? Try an earspike, an earring with a spike on it unsurprisingly. Some are pushed in the piercings while others have a clutch. You can find metal ones, plastic ones etc.
There are many earrings to choose from these days and nothing is stopping you from making a collection. This means you'll have the perfect earring for each occasion that suits your outfit and mood you are in.
